Our President

In 1980 Barack Obama was a freshmen at Occidental College in LA. There he met Lisa Jack, a young photographer who wanted Obama to pose for portfolio photos. Jack, who is now a psychologist, dug the negatives out of her basement. She locked them away until after the election to avoid them being used for political reasons. Today she hopes that they reveal a "spirit of fun and thoughtfulness." I would day that they do just that.

Our Rights as Humans

30 Guaranteed Human Rights

I was reading an article about a proposal to add the right to clean water as the 31st right on the list when I realized I not only didn't know what the other 30 on the list were but also didn't know that there was ever a list to begin with.
Made in the 1948 the Universal Declaration of Human Rights describes the rights guaranteed to all people. The rights were to be thought to students of UN member nations. This leads me to question a couple of things.
1. Why have I just now heard of it?
2 Is this my school not playing its role, my state, my country, or is the world not holding up it's responsibility to tell people what they are guaranteed?
Unfortunately A quick Google search leaves me empty handed. Still I am left to ponder these questions.

I encourage anyone with access to a computer to sign this virtual petition to make clean water the 31st universal human right.

Aiko, the personal female robot

When I first saw this I was astounded. It truly seems like a work of science fiction. Aiko as she is called is a robot designed to help the elderly. She can identify objects, read, do math, and interact with the world around her. She will even tell you to stop when you poke her or even when you fondle her. Some might say that we are getting or already have gotten to close to a life like humanoid robot. I however believe that it is an incredible step towards the further development of human technology.

Do you see the Virgin?

The Virgin Mary is seen in many every day objects. Is it The Lord trying to reach the people of Earth or just our eyes playing a trick on us?

Roy Lichtenstein. Its a Blonde Thing

Roy Lichtenstein was born in New York on Oct 27, 1923. He is one of the most prominent(definitely the most recognizable) American artist of the 2oth century, and a personal favorite. His artwork has captivated people of all ages since '56.

Here are a few of his works. It seems that he had a crush on this lovely blond.

Teen Broadcasts Suicide Online

On November 9th Abraham Biggs ,19 , committed suicide live online. The teen had been talking about his planned suicide 12 hours before hand. He positioned a live webcam facing his bed and broadcasted the event using Justin.tv. People watched as the young man overdosed on opiates and benzodiazepine, prescribed for his bi-polar disorder. People thinking it was a hoax posted comments such as "LOL" and "OMG". It wasn't untill many hours later that someone finally called the police. By then of course, it was too late.
